Four 80 tonne transformers for the new Kappara Distribution Centre will be delivered during the coming two nights for use with the undersea cable link with the European grid and to strengthen the supply to the eastern part of Malta, Enemalta said.

The Kappara distribution centre will be the third 132kV Distribution Centre in Malta. Two DCs are already in operation - in Mosta to supply the North of Malta and Gozo and in Marsa supplying power the central part of Malta.

Enemalta said the new transformers will be transported from Marsa to Kappara during the night today and tomorrow, to cause the least inconvenience to motorists. It urged motorists to seek alternative routes.
