Emirates will launch its state-of-the-art A380 commercial service from Dubai to New York in August.

The 14-hour continuous flight will also be the first-ever commercial A380 service to the US.

Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman and chief executive, Emirates Airline and Group said: "The Americas represent a crucial focus area in Emirates' route development plans, and we are delighted to be the first airline to launch commercial A380 services to the continent."

The largest A380 customer, Emirates said it will receive the first of its 58 aircraft on order. The 58 planes are worth $18.8 billion at current list prices.
