A 180-metre-long vehicle carrier ship, the MV Atlas Highway, berthed at Laboratory Wharf yesterday with 99 Japanese cars on board destined for the Maltese market.

The ship, which sailed direct from Japan, was here on its maiden call and will be calling on a monthly basis with a shipment of Japanese vehicles.

She can carry 4,800 cars.

Renald Camilleri, of Attrans Ltd, said the MV Grand Choice, another ship that belonged to Cido Shipping Japan, which owns the Atlas Highway, was due here on March 30 with 250 cars on board.
