The second edition of Seħer il-Punent in Għarb comes to a close today, showcasing the Gozitan village's traditions, folklore, natural and historical characteristics.

The programme of events organised for Seħer il-Punent include walking tours, visits to museums and other areas of interest in the village, art and craft exhibitions, re-enactment of past traditions, music and entertainment with food stalls serving traditional food in the main square.

The characteristics have been conserved and are well ingrained in the villagers' way of life. The festival is primarily aimed at promoting these aspects, potentially attracting the audience from across the channel by providing a mixture of cultural and entertaining activities.

The festival was inaugurated last Friday by Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono in the presence of the mayor and councillors of Għarb council, principal organisers of this festival.

Ms Debono applauded the council's initiative, saying it increased the potential attractions of Gozo among the domestic market, especially during the less popular months.
