Malta has become the blue fin tuna ranching capital of the world, thanks to its fish farms, Aaron McLoughlin, head of the European Marine Programme of the World Wildlife Fund has said.

He told Ivan Camilleri in an interview that Malta has a capacity to breed 60,000 tons of tuna when the legal quota is 29,000 tons.

Mr McLoughlin was interviewed amid the controversy over the EU decision to limit the tuna fishing season this year to conserve breeding resources.(see video)
