A German man, Julian Constantin Peter Buhr, 26, admitted in court today of having rented two Mercedes vans in Germany and sold them in Malta.

The accused, who is resident in Pender Gardens, admitted to misappropriation to the detriment of Dieter Speiser.

He rented the two vans in Germany, brought them to Malta and sold them . One was sold for €10,000 but has since been recovered.

The other, worth €40,000, was taken out of Malta.

Magistrate Audrey Demicali sentenced Mr Buhr to two years in jail suspended for four years and ordered him to pay Mr Speiser €50,000 in compensation within six months. He was also ordered to pay €10,000 to the person who had bought the van which was then recovered.
