German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle arrives in Malta at 11 p.m. tonight for talks with his Maltese counterpart Tonio Borg.

The talks will focus on European policy themes such as EU financing and migration but will also include bilateral issues.

It is his first visit to Malta since he took office with the new Federal Government in 2009.

The minister will also pay courtesy calls to President George Abela and Prime Ministe Lawrence Gonzi.
