A generation fault caused a widespread power cut in the central part of Malta this morning but power was restored by 11.50 a.m. Enemalta said.

It said the fault developed at 10.40 a.m. and the power supply was cut due to load shedding in Attard, San Gwann, Mriehel, Sta. Venera, Qormi, Birkirkarara, St. Julian's, Swieqi, parts of Msida and Gzira. Engineers worked quickly to restore power to all localities before noon.
