Mark Gauci followed his Valletta Cup success by lifting the Christmas Cup after winning a one-day tournament organised by the Valletta Subbuteo Club.

The final of the Christmas Cup was again contested by Gauci and Derek Conti with the former taking the honours after beating his opponent by the odd goal in five.

The match started on a high note for Conti who went ahead after two minutes with a well-taken shot from the left wing. Gauci scored twice early in the second half to overturn the deficit but Conti hit back to level the score at 2-2.

Three minutes from the end, Conti squandered a good opportunity to hit the winner when his shot was saved by Gauci. A quick counter-attack then saw Gauci flick the all-important goal to secure the Christmas Cup and his second honour of the season.

In the semi-finals, Gauci defeated Charles Aquilina 3-1 and Conti won 5-0 against youngster Andrew Abela.
