In Balzan, recently, Libyan nationals were protesting in front of their embassy. What struck me was that as it was Friday, the Muslims’ day of prayer, the road was blocked by a crowd when it was time for their prayers.

What I would like to ask the authorities is: Were permits issued by the police for these people to hold a prayer meeting in the way they did?

Are the authorities aware that our neighbours in Europe are finding it hard to stop this type of impromptu prayer meetings anywhere even in the middle of major roadways?

Is our island going to follow the same trend with the authorities turning a blind eye?

Snip such irregularities now and do not leave them for later. If there are new laws to be enacted, do it now before it is too late.
