A man who is believed to have entered a garage in Triq Reggie Miller, Gzira, to steal was arrested shortly after he was restrained by its owner at 10.30am.

The police said it appeared that the 39-year-old suspect was found rummaging through a parked car and tried to flee when confronted by its owner, who managed to successfully restrain the intruder.

It is understood that the owner became suspicious when he heard unusual sounds coming from the garage, which is adjacent to his house.

The Sliema District Police and Rapid Intervention Unit responded to what were initially reports of a scuffle.
