Gafa Saveway Cleaners Ltd has denied GWU claims that it employs workers in precarious conditions.
In a statement, it said all its 500 workers were engaged in terms of the law and the Director of industrial Relations was being invited to inspect any of the workers’ contracts.
The company said it did not exclude that some workers did not receive their full pay, because of mistakes in the pay office, but whenever this happened, the workers were paid as soon as possible and certainly by their next pay.
Since jobs were spread over many establishments, data on the number of hours worked sometimes was not received on time at the central office, the company said.
GWU STANDS ITS GROUND
In a statement, the GWU said it stood by its position, and said its claims were backed by the fact that the company had some 20 court cases against it.
The union insisted it would not give up its fight against precarious work.
