FXB's first humble workshop at No. 3 Vajringa Street, Victoria, Gozo, has been transformed into a new showroom featuring one of the group's brands - Windoor.

Windoor Systems is an architectural, wood furnishing and home improvements company, part of the FXB Group, specialising in external and internal wooden apertures, parquet flooring and timber decking.

At the inauguration, Joseph Borg, managing director of FXB Group, talked about the premises, which had been bought by his grandfather Francis Borg in 1932 for Lm27.

After World War II, his father Francis Xavier, with the help of his uncle George, enlarged the garage to its present size and clinched his first contract. The wooden benches for Ta' Pinu Sanctuary were made in this garage in 1950.

When Francis Borg passed away in 1961 aged 90, Francis Xavier and his brother George made a move to bigger premises in Pompei Street. Eventually, in 1972 they built their first factory at It-Taflija. The group's current factory in Xewkija was inaugurated in 1992.

This was followed by showrooms in Malta - the Emporium in Msida in 1994 and Nouvelle by FXB in Qormi in 2008.

"We want to give the group a new direction. With this brand, we are not only offering a product that looks good aesthetically, but we are also offering a product that conserves energy and drastically reduces noise," said Mr Borg.

The showroom was inaugurated by group chairman Francis Borg in the presence of other group directors. Also present was Andrea Vitali, president of PB Group, and his daughter Viola.
