ZC Excess chalked up their first win in the UEFA Futsal Cup Preliminary round when last night they beat Albania’s KF Tirana 4-2 at the Cottonera Sports Complex.
The Malta champions found themselves behind as Tirana forged ahead through Florian Gjoni after six minutes. But Excess hit back strongly and three quick fire goals from Clint Cope (12), Florin Anton (15) and James Ciangura (16) put them 3-1 up at the interval.
Rigers Sina pulled one back for Tirana early in the second half but goalkeeper Brian Baldacchino added a fourth for ZC Excess a minute from time to seal victory for the Maltese team.
In the other match played yesterday, Finland champions FS Ilves beat Denmark’s BGA Futsal 2-1.
The round robin competition comes to a close on Thursday when BGA Futsal face Tirana at 6 p.m. while ZC Excess take on Ilves at 8 p.m.
