The University’s Department of Commercial Law, in conjunction with The Chamber of Advocates, supported by the Malta Financial Services Authority, is organising a half-day seminar entitled ‘The Funds Industry in Malta: Recent Regulatory, Legal and Tax Developments’.

This seminar will be held at the Intercontinental Hotel, St Julian’s, on February 18 from 1 till 5.45 p.m.

Chamber of Advocates president Reuben Balzan will deliver the opening address. This will be followed by an introduction by David Fabri, head of the Department of Commercial Law.

Neville Gatt, partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers will then give a talk on the key recent legal and tax developments in the local funds sector and Roderick Zammit Pace, partner at Buttigieg, Refalo and Zammit Pace Advocates, will deliver a talk on the legal aspects of the prospectus and advertising regime.

A talk by Mamo TCV Advocates partner Joseph Saliba will be followed by a coffee break, after which there will be a talk by Joseph Ghio of Fenech and Fenech Advocates.

Andre’ Zerafa of Ganado and Associates will give a talk entitled ‘The Custodian’s liability under EU Directives within the context of Maltese civil law’ and Damien Fiott will deliver the last talk on recent VAT developments in fund management services.

The talks will be followed by a question and answer session.

The price of the seminar is €40 for Chamber Members, Judiciary and Students, and €60 for Non-Members. All participants will be entitled to coffee break and handouts.
