Tourism Minister Edward Zammit Lewis confirmed in Parliament this evening that the Institute of Tourism Studies in Gozo has a full-time lecturer even though it only has seven students (all following the diploma course in food preparation).

He was replying to questions by Nationalist MP Antoine Borg on whether it was true that the ITS in Gozo had a full-time lecturer - and Labour councillor in Qala - who only gives two lectures a week. He asked what he did in the rest of his time.

Replying, the minister said this lecturer was in the ITS under the former government and had been retained.

The number of students was constant, and efforts were being made to attract more students. Unfortunately, however, many preferred to study in Malta.

The lecturer was brought to Malta when needed.
