A full scale aircraft emergency exercise, organised by Malta Airport in collaboration with other entities, is being held on Monday.

In a statement, MIA said this was an exercise on a national scale and the public should not be alarmed with any unusual movements of a number of emergency vehicles, including ambulances, civil protection and police vehicles.

This exercise is aimed at assessing the level of preparedness of all entities involved, and reflects Malta Airport's commitment to safety and security. It is being held according to strict standards stipulated by the International Civil Aviation Organisation.

The organisations taking part in the exercise, together with Malta Airport's Fire & Rescue Services, are Air Malta, the Armed Forces of Malta, Transport Malta's Civil Aviation Directorate , the Civil Protection Department, the Department of Information, Mater Dei's Emergency Services, Emirates, GlobeGround Malta, Malta Air Traffic Services, the police, other airline representatives, other private agencies, non-governmental organisations.
