A New York resident shared a video of what appears to be sanitation department officials clearing the sidewalk of merchandise from a fruit store.

In the video by Gary Schlesinger, believed to be in Chinatown, the officials can be seen throwing boxes of fruit into the back of a garbage truck.

Since it was uploaded, the video has generated criticism, with many suggesting the food should have been given to the homeless instead.
