Two French men were yesterday charged with fishing illegally in Maltese waters and were provisionally discharged against a personal guarantee totalling €116,000. Fontanet Silvere and Serge Antoine Jose Perez pleaded not guilty to fishing in Malta's territorial seas between June 11 and 12. The case was deferred to July 22.

Inspector James Grech prosecuted.
