A 34-year-old student who defrauded two men of €12,000 was given six months in which to pay the money back.

Noel Lanzon, is studying in the UK to become a bus driver.

Mr Lanzon, through defense lawyer David Gatt asked for a bit more time to pay his debts since he was a student.

But Magistrate Lawrence Quintano told Mr Lanzon to choose between spending time in jail or pay the money back.

He chose the latter option and was sentenced to two years in jail suspended for four.
