Fr Dionysus Mintoff, who runs the Peace Lab in Ħal Far and takes care of irregular migrants, has won an international human rights award from the board of directors of the Franciscan International Organisation.

Justice Minister Carmelo Mifsud Bonnici congratulated Fr Mintoff, saying he believed the award was proof of the active role Fr Mintoff played to further peace, social justice and the environment. The award was also in recognition for the work of numerous volunteers who helped Fr Mintoff in his mission.

The recognition was priceless for Maltese NGOs that worked with asylum seekers and dealt with the challenges the island faced in the fields of immigration and asylum.
