French police have arrested the man they believe was the shooter in this terrifying security camera video.

The suspect's been named as Abdelhakim Dekhar.

Some sources say he was found in his car parked in a Paris suburb.

A second source said he was thought to be on medication and not in a state to be questioned.

A photographer's assistant was seriously wounded in the shooting at the offices of the left-wing Liberation newspaper on Monday.

Shortly afterwards shots were fired into the lobby at the headquarters of a major bank although no-one was wounded in that attack.

The gunman escaped after hijacking a car at gunpoint.

The French interior minister said later Dekhar had links to a couple involved in a deadly shootout with police in Paris in 1994.

Three police officers and a taxi driver were killed in what became known as the Rey-Maupin affair.

The killers used a gun bought by Dekhar who was given a four-year jail term because of it.
