The fallout from France's World Cup fiasco rumbled on yesterday with new coach Laurent Blanc banning all 23 members of the squad for next month's friendly against Norway.

In addition, French Football Federation treasurer Bernard Desumer revealed to L'Equipe that the national team's key sponsors - including Suez, Carrefour and Credit Agricole - are bidding to claim "a little over a million euros" in compensation for the "prejudice" of their image due to association with the nightmare campaign.

Les Bleus crashed out amid controversy as they managed only one point and one goal from three games in Group A and were left in disarray when the squad refused to train two days before their final game against hosts South Africa.

A number of senior figures had called for sanctions against the perceived ringleaders of the protest - but Blanc has moved to exclude the whole party and has been backed by the FFF's federal council.

A statement on www.fff.fr read: "Laurent Blanc proposed to the federal council - who accepted - not to retain for the friendly against Norway, on Wednesday August 11 in Oslo, any of the 23 players officially selected by the French Football Federation for the World Cup in South Africa."

Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris had earlier admitted the decision to strike was "completely stupid", and told L'Equipe: "We acted as a team. To strike was the decision of a squad who felt lonely, who believed that no one had stood up for them and who had a message to convey.

"We went too far. It was a very awkward decision, a big mistake. It was completely stupid. But there were so many problems."

The Lyon star vowed to work with his team-mates to help repair the damage, saying: "We all want to improve the image of Les Bleus. We must make all possible effort, give everything."

But he will have to wait until at least the start of Euro 2012 qualifying against Belarus on September 3, having been dismissed from consideration for the Scandinavian trip.

World Cup captain Patrice Evra, Arsenal trio Bacary Sagna, Gael Clichy and Abou Diaby, Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery, Barcelona's Eric Abidal, Chelsea pair Nicolas Anelka and Florent Malouda, Bordeaux playmaker Yoann Gourcuff and William Gallas are also among the notable players affected by Blanc's decision.

But the former Girondins boss will still be able to call on Mickael Landreau, Rod Fanni, Adil Rami, Yann M'Vila, Hatem Ben Arfa and Jimmy Briand - all cut from then coach Raymond Domenech's original 30-man squad - and Real Madrid duo Lassana Diarra, who missed the campaign with a stomach problem, and Karim Benzema, a surprise omission.

Monaco's Stephane Ruffier is Landreau's chief rival for the goalkeeping vacancy, midfielders Samir Nasri and Mathieu Flamini will also surely be expecting to hear from Blanc and there could even be a recall for Manchester City veteran Patrick Vieira.
