Austrian trotter Ashley, driven by Julian Farrugia, registered a convincing four-length victory in the Class A1 race that was the main event on yesterday's card at the Marsa Racetrack. All races were scratch ones on 2,140 metres.

Noel Baldacchino was the top driver at this meeting, managing to lead four horses to victory. These were Union Express, Nebraska Rozz, Eperon d'Avallon and Gold Vinoir.

The top race was interesting from start to finish. Although grabbing an immediate lead, Tank Pa Frokjar, driven by Mario Seguna, was soon overtaken by Ashley which in turn lost first position to Hollyfield.

However, Ashley made a remarkable recovery to regain the lead half a lap from the post, increasing its pace along the final straight to end up an easy winner.

Nebraska Rozz, in its second outing in Malta, won the Class A event after taking the lead from Prince Action, 1,000 metres away from the finishing line.

Quattro Laday, driven by its owner Carmelo Farrugia, obtained its third win on the trot in the first of the two Class B races. It won after leading all the way.

Baldacchino nosed Eperon d'Avallon ahead in race seven, 500 metres from the post and maintained its lead to win by two lengths the second event of this class.

The next meeting is scheduled for next Sunday, starting at 1.15 p.m.
