(Adds fifth driver to be granted bail)

Four minibus drivers were granted bail today after having been held in preventive arrest since Friday on allegations of having stopped a coach in Marsa during the transport strike and having held the driver against his will.

The accused are Vincent Spiteri, 48 of Qormi, Jason Desira 35 of Zejtun, Aaron Zahra 27 of Qormi and Shaun Tabone 25, of Marsa.

When the case started being heard before Magistrate Anthony Vella this morning, coach driver Roberto Dimech testified that nobody had attacked him or damaged his vehicle and he could continue on his way after a stoppage of between five and 10 minutes.

Victoria Camilleri, who was accompanying the tourists and driving behind the coach gave similar evidence.

The drivers were granted bail against a €1,000 deposit and a personal guarantee of €5,000.

Also granted bail today was Paul Borg, 21 of Attard, who is facing charges in connection with the incidents outside Castille during the transport strike. Magisrate Daviour Demicoli granted him bail ona deposit of €900 and a personal guarantee of €1,000.
