The Environment Committee has been working hard for the past month and a half organising activities leading to a children's public hearing on November 20, World Children's Day.

The first activity is a painting/drawing competition entitled: 'Making Malta a Better Place', which was launched in Summer for children at Skola Sajf. The second activity is an essay competition entitled: 'Our future depends on the state of the environment. What can you do to improve it?' for schoolchildren aged nine to 14 attending state, private and Church schools.

The Children's Public Hearing will bring together these two activities and children will be invited to present their works and discuss their ideas on sustainable development with an adult audience on November 20.

A booklet containing a reproduction of the children's artworks and written ideas will be distributed. More details will be given next month.

The course offers personal and social development as well as training in preparation for the workplace. Sessions include preparing for an interview, writing a CV, communicating skills and an introduction to the co-operative system.
