A Gozo outing with a difference is being organised for members and friends on Sunday (Annual Lace Day), which will take place at the University Gozo Centre.

Mrs Consiglia Azzopardi will give a talk on lace and the value of this heritage. Transport will be from different points as requested, starting at approximately 7.30 a.m. in time for the 9 a.m. ferry, returning with the 6 p.m. ferry.

The programme includes Mass at St Anthony's church, Ghajnsielem, a visit to the University Gozo Centre, buffet lunch at the Grand Hotel, Mgarr, and afternoon visits to various places of interest. Cost is Lm8.50 per person, including coach transport in Malta and Gozo, but excluding Gozo ferry ticket. Booking by April 30 (fax/tel: 2124-6982).

Programme of monthly talks

The Education Committee will be holding a series of monthly talks. Dr Roselyn Borg, BA, LL.D., and Dr Claudine Zarb, BA, LL.D., will be conducting a discussion on Family Law on May 12 and May 26 at NCW Centre, Blata l-Bajda. Both sessions start at 6.30 p.m. All those interested are invited to attend.

Social issues seminar

The NCW Social Issues Committee is organising a seminar on Sexuality and the Disabled on May 16. The seminar will be held at Razzett tal-Hbiberija, limits of Marsascala, at 6 p.m.

The main speakers will be Fr Martin Micallef, Graziella Buttigieg and Marcel Pisani (chief executive of Agenzija Sapport). Joe Camilleri, chairperson of the Commission Persons with Disability, will also take part. The seminar will be chaired by Carmen Spiteri, co-ordinator of the Social Issues Committee.

BMV music competition

Seven pianists will be taking part in the final session of the ninth edition of the Bice Mizzi Vassallo Music Competition, being held on June 21 at 6 p.m. at Sala Isouard of the Manoel Theatre. Tickets at Lm3 will be available at the Manoel Theatre booking office from the last week of May. Our guest of honour this year will be Mgr Fortunato Mizzi, after whose mother the competition is named. Mgr Mizzi will also present the prizes.

ICT courses at NCW premises

The Employment and Training Corporation (ETC) will be starting IT Courses at the recently inaugurated Knowledge Centre at NCW headquarters in Blata l-Bajda next month. Courses are open to employed and unemployed men and women, particularly day and night courses of basic IT skills, general office packages and computer- based training leading to the European Driving Licence.
