The old T-Mobile team will continue in elite cycling next year under the new name "Team High Road" after Deutsche Telekom decided to end its sponsorship.

"High Road Sports, Inc. holds a ProTour Team Licence and will seek authorisation of the change in the team's identity and operations from the governing body, the UCI," High Road Sports said.

The new team will continue to be led by Bob Stapleton, the American who attempted to launch a new and cleaner era after taking over last year. That attempt to turn over a new leaf was only partially successful.

In the biggest blow to the team's image, Patrik Sinkewitz tested positive for testosterone and was subsequently sacked.

T-Mobile also sacked Italian rider Lorenzo Bernucci this year after a failed doping test, while severing its ties with two doctors, Andreas Schmid and Lothar Heinrich, who are suspected of producing performance-enhancing drugs and administering them to athletes.
