The former permanent secretary in the Resources Ministry, Chris Ciantar and his wife Eleanor, who was a manager in the same ministry, have filed a protest against l-Orizzont and One TV in the first hall of the Civil Court, claiming that allegations made by the two mediums were unfounded.

The allegations included that Dr Ciantar abused his position when he approved his wife’s overtime and that the position of manager had been purposely created for her.

Dr Ciantar said he had requested an investigation from the Auditor General and although this was underway, the newspaper and the television station were still publishing slanderous articles about them.

The protest was signed by lawyers Ian Spiteri Bailey and Victoria Cuschieri.
