Godwin Sant, the former head of the energy regulation section of the Malta Resources Authority, is being questioned at police headquarters following the publication of e-mails yesterday showing that he had received gifts from oil trader George Farrugia.

Mr Sant is reported to have received English Premier League tickets from Mr Farrugia, who as local representative of Trafigura and Total, submitted bids for oil sales to Enemalta.

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat warned yesterday that the presidential pardon granted to Mr Farrugia to reveal all on the oil procurement scandal could be rescinded if he was found not to have revealed everything. He said he would await investigations by the police.

Meanwhile, Mr Farrugia flew to Venice yesterday, but he is due back in Malta later in the week.
