A man has been imprisoned for a year and a half after damaging his daughter's boyfriend's car and jumping bail twice to visit his mother abroad.
Leandro Ambrogio, 45, who was born in Italy but lives in Marsascala, was arraigned last year for bashing Victor Falzon's car with a rock, because, he said, he was not pleased with the relationship since his daughter was 30 years the man's junior.
He admitted to the charge but judgment was postponed to another day and he was granted bail on the condition he did not leave the country without informing the courts.
Yet, he flew to Italy in May, only to return in September, when he was immediately arrested.
Then, in November, he failed to appear in court again and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
He was caught in Italy last month and brought back. He was imprisoned by Magistrate Audrey Demicoli yesterday.
Inspector Fabian Fleri prosecuted.
