A former driver, Ronald Gerada, 34 of Xghajra, was accused in court today of having defrauded Arriva of €15,000 and of computer misuse.

He was also accused of committing a crime during the operative period of a suspended jail sentence.

The prosecution said the driver would key in another driver's name and password in the bus computer and then pocket the money from the sale of tickets.

It was the second such case revealed in a matter of weeks.

Mr Gerada is not longer employed by Arriva and now works in a scrapyard. He was granted bail against a deposit of €3,000.
