A cooperative formed last year by eight former bus drivers has invested €3 million on buses which it uses to transport schoolchildren.

The cooperative, Focal Point, employs 40, and is also branching out to tourism. It currently has 25 coaches and 18 mini buses.

SMEs minister Jason Azzopardi visited the cooperative’s offices this morning and praised its officials for the growth they were managing to achieve and for being sensitive to the needs of the members, staff and society.

Dr Azzopardi said three other cooperatives have just been set up, the Malta Boatmen and Mooring Services Coop, and two other cooperatives which provide training services.
