A former teacher was jailed for seven years yesterday for posing on the internet as a 14-year-old boy to persuade young girls to take indecent photographs of themselves.

David Forno was sentenced at the Royal Court of Jersey after pleading guilty to 17 offences of inciting or making indecent photographs of children and two offences of gaining unauthorised online access to instant messaging facilities belonging to two girls.

The charges involved nine girls aged between 10 and 13 and occurred between June 2008 and January 2009.

Mr Forno, who was 35 at the time, would pose as a boy called Liam using the email address rugbyislife@hotmail.co.uk to infiltrate the MSN instant messaging accounts of young girls.
