A formal request was made to the archbishop today for a start to the process for the possible beatification and canonisation of Mgr Mikiel Azzopardi, founder-director of Dar tal-Providenza in Siggiewi.

Mgr Azzopardi - known as Dun Mikliel - launched his home for people with disabilities 50 years ago after receiving a donation of £100.

The request was made by Fr Martin Micallef, current director of Dar tal-Providenza
