Land Department officials have served owners of various bars and restaurants in Buġibba and Qawra with formal notices giving them 48 hours to abide by encroachment permits.

The notices, distributed on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, form part of a series of enforcement actions taken by the department throughout the island to ensure that all illegal street furniture is removed from public areas.

If the establishments, once warned, do not remove furniture that oversteps their permits, the permits will be revoked, the furniture confiscated and they will face a €1,000 fine to re-apply for their permit.
