A group from the Malta Judo Federation (MJF), headed by Sports Director Alex Bezzina, recently represented the country in the Città di Forlì tournament with the participation of 52 teams.

The Maltese judokas were looking to sharpen up their skills during the last international competition of the year before wrapping up the season with the National Championships at the St Aloysius Sports Complex on December 14.

The 11 members in the MJF squad were: U-14 - Artem Pashkov (55kgs); U-16 - Shawn Farrugia (50kgs), Jeremy Saywell (60kgs), Maverick Scerri (66kgs), Isaac Bezzina (73kgs); U-20 - Tiziana Apap (48kgs); Seniors - Joanna Camilleri, Marcon Bezzina (both 63kgs), Kriss Law (60kgs), Brent Law (66kgs) and Dave White (73kgs).

The competition in Forlì was of a high level but the Maltese still left their mark and finished 11th overall.

The MJF group returned home with creditable results and medals won by Farrugia, Saywell, Apap, Camilleri, Bezzina and the Law duo.
