Fourteen Erasmus students have successfully completed an intensive language course in Maltese.

The course, held between September 14 and October 9, was organised by the university’s International and EU Office and funded through support received from the Commission of the European Communities within the framework of the Lifelong Learning Programme.

It was delivered by the university’s International School of Languages.

The course aimed to provide students with an opportunity to learn the Maltese language. Students followed 60 hours of studies in a lecture setting and successfully passed the assessment held at the end of the course.

A cultural component aimed to expose participants to the historical and cultural aspects of the Maltese islands, drawing them closer to the Maltese culture and lifestyle.

Visits included historical tours of Valletta, Mdina, Mosta and Marsaxlokk. The Tarxien Temples and the Domus Romana were also visited.

A Maltese cultural evening was held towards the end of the course. This event included a talk on Maltese foods and legends, which was complemented by a reception during which typical Maltese food and drinks were served.
