Education Minister Dolores Cristina, answering a parliamentary question yesterday by her opposite number Evarist Bartolo, sought to enlist his help to find a better-sounding name for peripatetic teachers. She felt it was a very unfortunate nomenclature which was variously abused or badly interpreted.

Mr Speaker Louis Galea, a former Minister of Education, pointed out that the word "peripatetic" went back to the time of Socrates and had long-standing roots in educational quarters. Answering another question later, Minister Cristina said she would like to have a separate vote for e-learning because, as things stood now, her ministry was dependent on the Ministry of Communications.
