Jimmy Bullard's proposed move to Celtic is off, according to Hull's head of football operations Adam Pearson.

Hull and Celtic had agreed a season-long loan deal for the midfielder.

Bullard held discussions with Tigers owner Russell Bartlett on Sunday to discuss his future options. However, it is believed Bullard's personal demands have seen the deal collapse.

"The deal is off as far as we are concerned because of absolutely ridiculous financial demands being made by the player," Pearson said.

The news is a blow to Hull who were keen to offload Bullard to ease their financial problems.

Boruc heading towards Fiorentina

Poland keeper Artur Boruc is set to leave the Scottish Premier League this summer and join Fiorentina in the Serie A.

Reports in the Polish press suggest that Boruc is likely to leave Celtic and move to Florence. It seems negotiations are already under way and talks intensified during the weekend.

If Boruc joins Fiorentina, regular keeper Sebastien Frey will be sold to raise funds. Boruc had been linked with a Serie A move last season for Milan, but the switch never materialised.

Juve on the right track - Del Neri

New Juventus coach Gigi del Neri reckons his team is on the right track after the first week of their pre-season training camp and the opening friendly this summer.

Last weekend, Juventus beat Trentino Amateurs 6-0.

"There are good signs, good indications," Del Neri said.

"These games in general count for little but I have seen good things. There was a great desire on the players' part to put into practice the moves we tried in training.

"I would like to underline the commitment of everyone notwithstanding the legs which are still heavy and the good goals of Diego and Trezeguet."

Before kick-off, Del Neri gave Nicola Legrottaglie the captain's armband instead of Trezeguet, reflecting the uncertainty surrounding the Frenchman's future.

Valencia had to sell to survive

Valencia midfielder David Albelda believes the club had no option but to sell David Villa and David Silva this summer.

Valencia finished third in the Primera Liga last season to seal a return to the Champions League, but the club have huge debts and both Villa and Silva have since left in big-money moves.

Villa was sold to Barcelona for €40m before the World Cup, while Silva recently joined Manchester City for around €33m. But Albelda says Valencia had no alternative.

"It's a shame they have left because they are two great players, but the club had to sell them to survive," he said.

Crucial phase for Woodgate

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp says the next month will have a big say in the future of Jonathan Woodgate.

The centre-half made just three appearances last season as he was hampered by a groin injury, and he will miss Spurs' pre-season tour of the US to work on his own personal fitness programme.

The 30-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and the new Premier League rule that clubs must name a 25-man squad for the season also complicates his situation.

Redknapp said: "It's make or break for Jonathan now.

"He has got to come back and play. If he is not ready for the start of the season it will be difficult for him. When he gets his boots on and starts playing hopefully he will be all right."

Schweini could split from Bayern

Germany midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has hinted at a move away from Bayern Munich by stating he is not "married" to the Bundesliga champions.

Schweinsteiger has a contract at the Allianz Arena until 2012 which he insists he is happy to honour but the 25-year-old also concedes a move abroad would excite him.

"I have a deal with FC Bayern until 2012 and I really respect the club and the contract," he said.

"But I cannot say that I am married to FC Bayern. That would not be fair to the fans.

"The Bundesliga is great, and has become more important, but if I were to move on then, of course, the idea of going abroad is what excites me."

Scharner wants Liverpool move

Paul Scharner's agent has revealed a transfer to Liverpool would be a "dream move".

New Reds boss Roy Hodgson is thought to be an admirer of the versatile 30-year-old, who left Wigan after his contract expired at the end of last season. Aston Villa are also reported to be interested in Scharner's signature, but Liverpool is his preferred destination.

Agent Valentin Hobel said: "Roy Hodgson and Paul Scharner - this is a special relationship. Hodgson thinks that Paul's strengths in midfield are better than his attributes in central defence.

"Liverpool would be a dream, of course, but we are in contact with several clubs. Because he is a free transfer, he can choose."
