Sol Campbell has promised to make no decision over his future until Celtic resolve that of Neil Lennon.

Former England defender Campbell last week revealed he was "seriously considering" joining the Hoops and had spoken to Lennon about a possible move. But with the latter not yet confirmed as permanent manager at Parkhead, Campbell is biding his time.

"I'm just waiting for Celtic to settle the situation with Neil," the 35-year-old said.

"When we last spoke, he was waiting to see if he was getting the job. I'd have to make a trip to Glasgow and have a look around, see what's happening. I will keep my options open. I'm not going to rush into anything."

Sunderland's Bent to battle on

Sunderland striker Darren Bent has vowed to pick himself up and start again after suffering World Cup heartbreak for the second time in four years.

The 26-year-old had a feeling of 'deja vu' on Tuesday as he became one of seven players culled by Fabio Capello as he trimmed his squad for South Africa from 30 to 23.

But he has promised to "move on, kick on, work doubly hard".

He said: "There's no point throwing myself to the ground and whining about life, because that's no good to anyone.

"My priority is Sunderland but people say that if you do well for your club, the rewards will follow. It doesn't feel like that's happened."

Coventry's Arena gets Olympic nod

Coventry City's Ricoh Arena has been chosen as the Midlands venue to host football at the 2012 Olympic Games. The announcement comes after Villa Park was ruled out due to planned building work and means all venues are now in place for the London Games.

The stadium will be renamed the City of Coventry Stadium for the duration of the Games.

Olympics Minister Hugh Robertson said: "Sitting at the heart of the Midlands, the City of Coventry Stadium is ideally located for thousands of people to come and watch the London 2012 football competition."

Mihajlovic named Fiorentina boss

Fiorentina have appointed Sinisa Mihajlovic as their new coach, the club confirmed yesterday evening.

Mihajlovic replaces Cesare Prandelli, who officially rescinded his contract with the Serie A club earlier in the day.

The Serbian steered Catania to Serie A safety last season before resigning last week.

"Mihajlovic will be presented to the media at noon tomorrow (today). The new Viola coach will meet the Fiorentina directors first, then he will be presented to the Press at the conference centre in the Stadio Artemio Franchi," a club statement said.

Fiorentina announced that a deal was also struck with Udinese for midfielder Gaetano D'Agostino.

West Bromwich sign defender Ibanez

West Brom have confirmed they have completed the signing of Spanish defender Pablo Ibanez on a free transfer.

Ibanez has put pen to paper on a three-year deal which will come into effect on July 1 after his contract with Atletico Madrid expires.

The 28-year-old made just a handful of appearances last season following Quique Sanchez Flores' appointment as coach.

West Brom manager Roberto Di Matteo is delighted with the capture.

"Pablo comes with bags of experience having been a regular fixture in La Liga for the past seven seasons," he said.

Ibanez made 23 appearances for Spain and started three of their four World Cup matches in 2006 alongside Carles Puyol.

Adriano silent over police quiz

Adriano refused to comment after being questioned about alleged ties to local drug traffickers. The Brazil striker did not speak to media when he left the state prosecutor's office in Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday.

A statement confirmed the police were investigating Adriano over newspaper allegations he has given money (approx €25,000) to a well-known ringleader.

It is the second time this year Adriano has been called in by police after he was questioned in April about a motorbike he had bought which was registered to the mother of a drug trafficker.

Speculation is rife that Adriano is set to sign for Roma but the news could have scuppered the former Inter striker's return to Italy.

Ukraine gets boost from UEFA

UEFA has given Ukraine's latest efforts to be ready to co-host the 2012 European Championships with Poland their approval.

There had been concerns over delayed work to stadia and airports which had put Ukraine's position in jeopardy, leading to a possible Plan B of another country taking over.

A meeting of the Euro 2012 steering group was able to deliver good news for Ukraine who had been threatened with either Germany or Hungary taking over their place as co-hosts.

UEFA said: "There is no reason for UEFA to look into alternatives if this plan is respected and delivered. There are, however, no signs at all that Kiev will not be in a position to host Euro 2012."
