Ronald Koeman is reportedly considering an offer to become the new Celtic manager.

The former Holland defender was dismissed by Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in December, seven months into his reign. Celtic are looking for a permanent replacement for Tony Mowbray, with Neil Lennon currently in caretaker charge of the Glasgow giants.

"It (Celtic) is an option which I am thinking over quite seriously," Koeman said in De Telegraaf newspaper, adding he has a number of possible destinations.

"I cannot name names, but all concerned are foreign clubs. I hope to determine where I am going within a week."

Gers' clean sweep in Scottish awards

Rangers midfielder Steven Davis was named Player of the Year at PFA Scotland's annual awards ceremony in Glasgow.

Northern Ireland international Davis was chosen by his peers after helping Rangers retain the Scottish Premier League and win the Scottish League Cup.

The 25-year-old scored only four goals this season but his dynamic displays in midfield played a key role in Rangers' successful campaign.

There was more recognition for Rangers as Walter Smith was named manager of the year, adding to his Scottish Football Writers' Association prize.

And Rangers defender Danny Wilson made it a clean sweep of major prizes for the Ibrox club after being named young player of the year.

Kuranyi overlooked by Germany coach

Germany coach Joachim Loew will not be selecting Schalke 04 striker Kevin Kuranyi for this summer's World Cup, the German football federation announced yesterday.

Kuranyi has not played for Germany since walking out on the team in October 2008 after being left out of the matchday squad for a World Cup qualifier, prompting coach Loew to declare he would never pick him again.

The 28-year-old has had the best season of his career scoring 18 goals with Schalke 04, who are second in the Bundesliga, three points behind leaders Bayern Munich.

Loew has said he will announce his World Cup squad on Thursday.

Mourinho leave? Unthinkable - Inter

Inter sporting director Marco Branca insisted that it was "unthinkable" coach Jose Mourinho would quit the San Siro at the season's end.

Mourinho, who has guided Inter to the Champions League final, Italian Cup final and to the verge of a fifth successive Serie A crown, has been linked with a switch to Real Madrid.

"This is the type of thing which was being said last year," said Branca.

"There are journalists who have written about that (the Real link). We are happy with Mourinho and Mourinho is also happy. It's unthinkable that he'll be far away from us next season."

Mourinho arrived at Inter in June 2008 and has a contract until 2012.

Roma chief Sensi hits out at Lazio

Roma president Rosella Sensi has hit out at the manner of Lazio's defeat by Inter on Sunday night. The 2-0 win allowed Inter to take a two-point lead at the top of Serie A ahead of Lazio's bitter rivals with two games remaining.

"After what we saw at the Olimpico, to call ours the most beautiful league in the world is a paradox," Sensi told reporters.

"I would be ashamed to win that way."

A section of Lazio fans cheered both of Inter's goals as they damaged Roma's title chances.

Roma director Gian Paolo Montali added: "I never thought my eyes would see what they have seen this time.

"I believe Inter were embarrassed, it was nothing to do with them. It was not only Lazio that lost, but Italian football."

Wolfsburg quiet on McClaren link

Wolfsburg will not be rushed into naming their new coach as Steve McClaren was heavily linked with the post following his title triumph in Holland. The former England manager guided FC Twente to their first ever Eredivisie title on Sunday.

Beating the likes of Ajax and PSV to the title has seen McClaren's stock rise across Europe and reports have linked him with a move to the Volkswagen Arena.

Wolfsburg general manager Dieter Hoeness hinted a decision could be made this week.

"If it's Friday, Saturday or Sunday, we don't care. Only when everything is cleanly concluded will we make the name known," Hoeness said.

Benayoun facing uncertain future

Liverpool midfielder Yossi Benayoun has added to the growing uncertainty at the club by admitting he does not know if he has a future at Anfield.

Speculation has long linked manager Rafael Benitez with Juventus and the Reds boss refused to clarify his own future. Benitez, who only signed a new deal 14 months ago, has tied a number of players to long-term deals, but Benayoun is not one of them.

"It's very difficult to speak now about next season," said Benayoun.

"We don't know what changes there will be so I think it's too early to speak. I don't know personally even if I will be here.

"A lot of things can happen, so we have to wait and see."
