Marseille coach Didier Deschamps was delighted to see his team book their place in the Coupe de la Ligue final after beating Toulouse 2-1 in extra-time on Wednesday.

Marseille will meet either Lorient or Bordeaux in the final but Deschamps has urged his players to now turn their attention to the league.

"What was most important was qualification," he said after the game. "We came for that. We had to have character and desire to come back as we did.

"Our path wasn't simple but we will be at the Stade de France.

"Now our priority has to be the league and we have to throw ourselves back in very quickly."

FFF boss rejects Blanc reports

France Football Federation (FFF) chief Jean-Pierre Escalettes has rubbished reports that Laurent Blanc has agreed in principle to take over as France coach.

Speculation is rife that, following secret meetings with the federation, Blanc has agreed to succeed Raymond Domenech at the helm of Les Bleus.

"It's completely false," Escalettes said. "It's ridiculous. Of course I completely deny it.

"Absolutely nothing justifies this type of rumours. It seems absurd to me."

Maradona makes four changes

Argentina coach Diego Maradona has made four immediate changes to his 18-man home-based squad for the friendly international match against Jamaica next Wednesday.

The changes, just hours after the squad was initially revealed, are due to Estudiantes' Copa Libertadores match against Peru's Juan Aurich the day after the friendly. Maradona thus omitted the four players he had selected from the club - defender Clemente Rodriguez, midfielder Enzo Perez and forwards Jose Sosa and Mauro Boselli.

Among their replacements are Atletico Tucuman forward Juan Pablo Pereyra and Huracan midfielder Patricio Toranzo, whose inclusions take the number of players gaining their first call-up to seven.

Hargreaves out of United's Euro plans

Owen Hargreaves has been left out of Manchester United's Champions League squad.

The move almost certainly ends any chance the midfielder had of forcing his way into Fabio Capello's World Cup squad and raises fresh doubts over his chances of making a full recovery from double knee surgery in October 2008.

Last month, Sir Alex Ferguson did state his intention to pick Hargreaves in his 25-man European squad. But UEFA have confirmed the former Bayern Munich star is not among the men United will rely on in their quest to reach a third successive final.

Ferguson's latest fitness bulletin about the Calgary-born midfielder confirmed he was training with the first team for part of the week.

Seedorf ready for United clash

Milan veteran Clarence Seedorf is looking forward to his side's Champions League last 16 clash with Manchester United later this month.

The 33-year-old was on target when the two teams last met, as Milan stormed to a 3-0 home victory on their way to Champions League glory in 2007.

Wayne Rooney recently said that Seedorf remains the toughest opponent he has ever come across in his career.

Speaking to Milan's official website, the Dutchman said: "Rooney is in an extraordinary moment of form.

"We expect a wonderful game but in the last few years we have always carried home something more than them."

Bridge in line for City return

Wayne Bridge could return to the Manchester City starting line-up at Hull tomorrow. The full-back has been absent since injuring a knee against former club Chelsea at the beginning of December.

Since then Bridge has been caught up in the allegations about England captain John Terry's private life.

Bridge, along with fellow long-time absentee Joleon Lescott, is on the brink of a comeback, according to City's fitness coach.

"I spoke to Joleon and he is very happy," City fitness coach Ivan Carminati said.

"His knee is very strong and unless things change he could be involved in the next match - and so could Wayne Bridge."

Title race not over - Keane

Robbie Keane insists there is no reason why Celtic cannot peg back rivals Rangers and win the Premier League.

The on-loan Tottenham striker's debut was wrecked when the Hoops suffered defeat at Kilmarnock on Tuesday which allowed Rangers' 10-point advantage to remain intact.

Keane told the Scottish Daily Express: "There's no reason why we can't have a chance. I need a few games and we need to put a run together. There's every chance because there's a long way to go.

"It was disappointing not to win at Kilmarnock. We just have to move on now and look forward to the next game."
