Spartak Moscow want Tottenham Hotspur's Russia striker Roman Pavlyuchenko back for a reduced transfer fee.

The Russia forward joined Spurs for €17 million a year ago but has found it difficult to earn a regular first-team spot.

Spartak said they would have liked Pavlyuchenko on loan but Tottenham would only consider selling the 27-year-old, who is liked by the fans but faces tough competition up front.

"We need a good striker," Spartak coach Valery Karpin was quoted as saying, adding Spurs would not sell for less than £15m.

It's a bit too much. If the price was 10 (million pounds) we would seriously consider it," Karpin said.

Liverpool have loaned out Hungarian striker Krisztian Nemeth to AEK Athens, the Greek club have confirmed. The 20-year-old forward, who is yet to make a first team appearance for the Reds, has signed a contract until the end of the season.

"I hope we can win the championship. This is important for us and for the fans. I am coming to a big club in a great city," the U-21 international said.

"The level of the Greek championship it good and I'm looking forward to it."

Last week, Liverpool signed Greek international defender Sotiris Kyrgiakos from the Athens club.

Seoul block Celtic move for Ki

South Korean side FC Seoul have knocked back a reported $2.9 million bid from Celtic for promising midfielder Ki Sung-yong, saying the transfer was "non-negotiable".

Seoul have recently sold Lee Chung-yong to Bolton and are reluctant to let another one of their highly-rated prospects leave at this stage of the season.

"We have never stood in the way of our players signing for foreign clubs," an FC Seoul spokesman said.

"However, Ki is still under contract, so the transfer is non-negotiable at the moment."

Celtic were keen to land the 20-year-old before the end of the summer transfer window in Europe but the timing was bad for Seoul, who are top of the K-League with half the season remaining.

Berlusconi at odds with Milan coach

Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi has risked undermining new coach Leonardo before the city derby by saying he prefers a different formation to the one used by the Brazilian.

Milan won 2-1 at Siena on Saturday in their Serie A opener with the impressive Ronaldinho playing behind frontmen Alexandre Pato and Marco Borriello. However, Berlusconi wants to see Ronaldinho pushed further forward for Saturday's meeting with Inter.

"If I was choosing the formation, I would play Clarence Seedorf in the hole, Pato as the main striker with Ronaldinho as second striker," the Italian prime minister told 7 Gold television.

Lescott seals move to Man. City

Manchester City have completed the signing of England defender Joleon Lescott (picture) on a five-year contract from Everton, the club said.

After having two bids rejected, City agreed a fee with the Merseyside club over the weekend. Lescott, 27, passed a medical on Monday and finally tied up the transfer to Eastlands late on Tuesday night.

"I am absolutely delighted to welcome Joleon to Manchester City. He is an England international who has proved his Premier League ability during his time at Everton," City manager Mark Hughes said.

"In bringing Joleon to the club I feel we have recruited a defender of the very highest quality."

Anderson to fight for his place

Manchester United midfielder Anderson has admitted his frustration at his lack of first-team football but the Brazilian is determined to fight for his place at Old Trafford.

The former Porto midfielder has just one start this season and was reported to have clashed with manager Alex Ferguson after being left out of the team for the Community Shield meeting with Chelsea.

"I believed that I would play in the Community Shield but that is forgotten now," he said.

"I thought that, without Ronaldo around, I could to play more. Ferguson has demanded a bigger effort from me and I accept that. Because to get into this United team is very complicated and difficult for any player."

Walcott out of England matches

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has ruled out Theo Walcott from playing for England in the upcoming matches as he continues his recovery from a back injury.

Walcott has not played for Arsenal this season due to the problem and Wenger insists he will not be rushed back.

Fabio Capello's men face Slovenia in an international friendly on September 5 before taking on Croatia in a World Cup qualifier four days later.

"He has pain - he is out of the Man. United game," the Arsenal manager said in reference's to Saturday's Premier League clash.

"England? No. There is no way. It would not be realistic. His last game was in June. We are now in August. We wait until he has no pain."
