Louis Saha is a big doubt for Everton ahead of Sunday's FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United at Wembley. The Frenchman is struggling with illness and is considered a doubt for the fixture against his former club.

Everton manager David Moyes is already without Jo, who is cup-tied, while Nigerian forward Yakubu Aiyegbeni remains a long-term injury victim.

"There's a worry because Louis wasn't well," Moyes said.

"But hopefully it's just a bit of sickness and he'll be okay."

If Saha is ruled out, Moyes could partner Tim Cahill and Marouane Fellaini up front, with youngster James Vaughan providing back-up.

Shearer can save Newcastle - Given

Goalkeeper Shay Given, who left Newcastle in January to join Manchester City, reckons his former club are strong enough to stave off the relegation threat thanks to the guidance of Alan Shearer.

Given has been in contact with Shearer since his appointment as temporary boss and reckons if anyone can guide Newcastle away from the relegation nightmare it is Shearer.

"He should have been brought in earlier to try and get some results," said Given.

"It would be a real tragedy if they got relegated.

"I spoke to Alan and dropped him a few texts wishing him luck. If anyone can have an effect and galvanise the club it is him."

Ukraine not losing Euro 2012

UEFA president Michel Platini has calmed fears Ukraine could lose the right to jointly host Euro 2012 over doubts about whether its Olympic Stadium will be ready in time.

Platini is visiting Ukraine and co-hosts Poland this week to assess preparations after previously criticising sluggish work progress and warning the two countries risked losing the tournament.

"It will be impossible for Ukraine to lose the championship," Platini told reporters.

"I have listened to the guarantees and I feel the stadium will be ready by 2011. I don't think there are any concerns about that."

Legal wrangling over the demolition of a shopping centre adjacent to Kiev's Olympic Stadium delayed works for more than six months.

Fabregas says he is his own man

Cesc Fabregas said his future at Arsenal does not depend on manager Arsene Wenger, the man who lured the midfielder away from Barcelona in 2003 and made a great player out of him.

Some reports suggested that the Spanish playmaker could seek a move away from London when Wenger leaves his role as boss. But Fabregas has stressed that he is his own man now.

"I hope that my future will be at Arsenal, but it does not depend on Wenger's future at all," he said.

"Of course, I respect him a lot, but in football you try to achieve things as an individual."

Laursen to miss rest of season

Aston Villa captain Martin Laursen will play no part for the remainder of the season due to a knee injury.

The central defender has not played since the 2-1 home win over West Brom in early January.

Villa boss Martin O'Neill had been hoping Laursen would be fit to return for the clash with Manchester United earlier this month. But he suffered a setback during a training camp in Dubai in March.

"Martin is struggling. There's not much more to say. He'll be struggling to play again before the end of the season," O'Neill said.

15,000 demand '73 result is reversed

Milan's 1-0 win over Leeds in the 1973 Cup Winners' Cup final should be reversed if new evidence is found to suggest the match was fixed, according to a European Member of Parliament.

Richard Corbett, who represents the Yorkshire & Humber constituency at Brussels, has collected 15,000 signatures for a petition to be handed in to UEFA on May 16, the 36th anniversary of the match.

Corbett is asking UEFA to investigate the final, and if new evidence is found that it was fixed it should be awarded to Leeds. Milan beat Leeds with a controversial goal from Luciano Chiarugi, who scored direct from an indirect free-kick.

Greek referee Christos Michas was subsequently investigated on suspicion he had been bribed by Milan. He was then banned by UEFA from refereeing international club matches again.

Inter's Cesar set to face Juventus

Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar is winning his fitness battle ahead of Saturday's top-of-the-table clash against Juventus in Turin.

The Brazilian has been hampered by a muscular problem since the game against Udinese.

However, after working with Inter goalkeeping coach Silvino Soares and the club's medical team, Cesar seems to be close to regaining full fitness and is expected to take his place in goal back from stand-in keeper Francesco Toldo.

Cesar skipped the match against Palermo last weekend during which the champions threw away a 2-0 lead and settled for a draw after conceding two second-half goals.
