A total of 121 people were detained following incidents before and after Sunday's football match between arch-rivals Hajduk Split and Dynamo Zagreb, police said.

Most of the detained - 84 - were fans of Hajduk Split which won the first division game 2-0 at home. The incidents included clashes between rival fans, setting fire to stadium seats and attacks on police, with four officers sustaining injuries.

The two clubs are fierce rivals, and nearly every match between them is marked by violence.

The Croatian government forwarded a tougher anti-hooligan law in parliament last month.

Milito happy to return to Genoa

Diego Milito, 29, said he is happy to have decided to return to Genoa after almost four years last summer following a stint in the Spanish league with Real Zaragoza.

Milito scored 53 goals in 108 Primera Liga games but his team still got relegated at the end of the season and Genoa pounced to re-sign him for a bargain £5m.

"I am not thinking about the national team, only about Genoa and helping them reach their goals," Milito said.

"I am very well in Genoa, everybody knows it. But we'll see what happens at the end of the championship," Milito added, referring to his future after being linked with a move to Inter.

Ramos realistic on Real's chances

Real Madrid will have to win all their remaining 14 matches and rely on Barcelona faltering again if they are to haul in the Primera Liga leaders and defend their title, coach Juande Ramos said.

Barca lost for the first time since the opening day of the season on Saturday, a 2-1 defeat at home to bottom club and city rivals Espanyol which cut their lead to seven points.

Real ran riot at the Bernabeu, knocking six past Real Betis for their ninth straight win.

"It's difficult but it's possible," Ramos said. "But to do it we'll have to win all our matches and hope that Barcelona slip up."

Reja says job safe at Napoli

Edy Reja told reporters he is in no danger of losing his job despite a recent run of bad form for Napoli which has seen the team falling to 10th place in the standings after Sunday's 0-1 upset to Genoa at home.

The fans voiced their concern on Sunday, protesting for hours after the game.

"I have always felt Napoli at my side," Reja said after informing his players they will be together for the rest of the week.

"Whenever Aurelio De Laurentiis, Pier Paolo Marino and I have spoken, I have always been the most critical and they have tried to calm me."

Reja has been at Napoli since 2004 after leading them to consecutive promotions from the Serie C.

Hughes says United will be champions

Manchester United look to be on the brink of equalling Liverpool's record of 18 league titles with the Reds giving away other vital points on Sunday after a 1-1 draw at home with Manchester City.

City manager Mark Hughes said: "Manchester United will have to slip up now, and they do not do that very often.

"There are still a lot of games to go, but it is very much in their hands and they will have to lose three games now. You cannot see them doing that."

Hughes's side did his former employers a favour after Craig Bellamy's deflected shot put City ahead, only a late Dirk Kuyt strike preserving Liverpool's 14-month unbeaten home league record.

Strachan tells Celtic to sharpen up

Gordon Strachan has warned Celtic they risk surrendering the Scottish Premier League title to rivals Rangers unless they can find a cutting edge quickly.

Strachan's men failed to win for the sixth time in 10 matches as Paul Quinn's late equaliser earned Motherwell a 1-1 draw on Sunday.

Quinn's intervention left Celtic second in the table behind Rangers on goal difference.

"At the moment we can't score goals from the chances we are making, it's as simple as that," Strachan said.

"Until we get that right, it's going to be a scrap for us. All we can do is keep making chances and dominating games as we did and it's up to people to finish."

Gunners more defensive - Sagna

Arsenal were renowned for their quick-passing and attacking football but this season they have adopted a more defensive approach, Bacary Sagna, the Gunners' defender said.

Still, their tactics do not appear to have worked wonders for the Londoners, with 25 goals conceded in 26 games this season.

"We can't compare this Arsenal team with the one from last year," Sagna said.

"We are a young team and we have changed our style. We don't rush forward as much anymore. We looked at what was going wrong and the reasons behind why we were conceding a lot of goals.

"We wanted to continue with the pace we displayed last season, but it was not helping us."
