Enrico Preziosi, the Genoa club supremo, told reporters that striker Diego Milito could join Inter at the end of the season.

Milito, formerly of Real Zaragoza, has been one of the revelations in the Serie A this season with 16 goals to his name. Inter already had an offer turned down by Genoa in the winter transfer window.

"Milito is having a wonderful season and I really didn't think he would score so many goals," he said.

"I have rejected a lucrative offer for Milito from Inter in January. I didn't want to let our supporters down but things could change in June. We could be forced to let him go, but we will have to see."

SPL2 in the offing in Scotland

Dunfermline boss John Yorkston said a second tier to the Scottish Premier League could be introduced soon, more than two years after the first proposals were made.

Yorkston believes the competition may even be introduced next season.

"If there's a will, there's a way," he said.

"I think if people get their act together, start moving now, basically all it's going to need is a change of name to start with."

The SPL believe the creation of a new top-flight structure of 22 clubs playing in two divisions will "enhance" the game and could serve as a catalyst for the introduction of a pyramid system similar to that in England.

Brozek keen on Hammers' move

Pawel Brozek, a 25-year-old Poland international, is looking to join West Ham next season.

West Ham scouts have already watched the Wisla Krakow striker in action, the last time in a friendly against Wales last week.

Radoslaw Osuch, Brozek's agent, said he is aware of the rumours of West Ham's interest and that the player would consider a switch to England.

"I have heard the rumours about interest from West Ham," Osuch said.

"Of course, he would be interested in a move to West Ham... they are playing good football under Zola.

"There are a lot of clubs interested in him from Russia, Germany, France and England."

Neville at United until 2010

Gary Neville will prolong his stay at Old Trafford after extending his contract by another 12 months. The Man. United skipper now has a deal running up to June 2010.

Neville, 34, made his United debut in 1992. He struggled with injuries this season and despite the emergence of Rafael at right-back, the club had no intention of letting one of their stalwarts leave.

"Manchester United is the only club I have ever wanted to play for so I am delighted to have signed for another year," Neville said.

Neville's signature follows on from another United veteran, Ryan Giggs, agreeing a new deal last week.

Barca unsympathetic to Espanyol's plight

Espanyol denied Barcelona the 2007 title with a last-minute equaliser at the Nou Camp and that has not been forgotten by Barca as the leaders prepare for today's visit of city rivals now stuck in last position.

"Two years ago Espanyol caused us to lose the league title and they were delighted celebrating their goal," Barca midfielder Sergio Busquets said.

"It wouldn't bother me a bit if they were relegated."

Espanyol's talismanic captain Raul Tamudo, the player who scored that equaliser, has just returned from a long-term injury lay-off. His side have gone 14 league matches without a win.

"I don't think it will be any tougher to visit the Nou Camp than in other seasons," he said.

Arshavin set for Gunners' debut

Andrey Arshavin is set to play his first match for Arsenal today against Sunderland at home.

Arshavin, 27, has not made an appearance since completing his move from Zenit St Petersburg last month. He was among the substitutes for the derby against Tottenham shortly after his arrival for a fee estimated at £15 million.

Arsene Wenger, the Arsenal manager, said: "He will be involved. But I have not decided what I will do with him yet.

"He is still working on preparation and he is not qualified for the Champions League so we can give him another week of hard work."

Aquilani waiting for Roma talks

Roma midfielder Alberto Aquilani still has to start talks over a new contract according to Franco Zagaglia, the player's agent.

Aquilani, an Italy inter-national, has been linked with a move elsewhere but Roma club president Rosella Sensi recently stated that Aquilani would be offered a new deal soon. The midfielder's agent is still waiting to begin discussions.

"We are waiting for news," Zagaglia said.

"At Christmas, we were told that the contract would not be a problem. Alberto's priority is to give his all to Roma but we are still waiting for someone to call us."
