Vicente Boluda, the Real Madrid supremo, said his club is confident that they will sign Cristiano Ronaldo, the Manchester United star who almost joined the Primera Liga giants last summer.

Reports in Spain said a pre-contract is already done as Real have never given up on their desire to land the Portuguese winger.

Speaking on Cadena Ser radio, Boluda said: "I am convinced we will see him at the Bernabeu."

Boluda inherited the top job at Real when Ramon Calderon was forced to step down last month.

He will not be standing for election in the summer, when former chief Florentino Perez will be among those battling for the top job at the club.

Beckham... decisive day on Friday

David Beckham's future could be decided on Friday, Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani said.

"There is still a bit of distance but Friday could be the decisive day for Beckham," Galliani told reporters.

The midfielder, on a two-month loan at Milan from Los Angeles Galaxy, wants to remain in Italy permanently. Galaxy said on Friday he must go back to Los Angeles on March 9 after a Major League Soccer deadline to complete the transfer passed.

Various figures have been bandied about in the media after Milan's opening offer of five million euros was turned down.

Some reports have said Galaxy want about 12 million euros.

Inter, Juve show interest in Agger

News that Daniel Agger, 24, is set to leave Anfield at the end of the season has prompted interest from Serie A rivals Inter and Juventus who both seem to be in the chase of the Liverpool defender.

Inter and Juventus are looking to further bolster their defences for the 2009/10 season, but both clubs could face competition for Agger's signature from Real Madrid.

The Denmark international has made just 10 appearances in the English Premiership this season and is unhappy at the lack of regular first team football at Anfield.

Agger's contract expires next year and he can free himself this summer by paying off what is left of his deal, which amounts to £4m.

Bullard to have knee surgery in US

Hull City's record signing Jimmy Bullard will have surgery on his knee today in the United States, the Premier League club said.

"Jimmy will be having an arthroscopy to deal with a tear in his cartilage," the club said on their website without saying how long he would be out of action.

The midfielder, who joined Hull from Fulham for five million pounds in January, will be treated by the same surgeon who dealt with the career-threatening knee injury that sidelined him for more than a year in 2006.

No plot to oust Scolari - Ballack

Michael Ballack said he was not involved in any plot to oust Luiz Felipe Scolari from his job at Chelsea earlier this month.

Reports suggested Ballack, Petr Cech and Didier Drogba met Roman Abramovich, the club owner, and persuded him to show Scolari the backdoor.

Ballack said: "I couldn't believe this. I was surprised when I heard about it as I always had a lot of good words about Scolari.

"Meetings are normal in a club. It's normal Abramovich speaks with players inside the dressing room. It's not easy, not nice to sack somebody. This was in the papers, but is definitely not true."

Italian Super Cup for Beijing

Next year's Italian Super Cup will be played in Beijing, the Chinese capital. The news emerged following a meeting earlier this week between Lega Calcio head Antonio Matarrese and China FA chairman Wang Hui.

The fixture has been played outside the country on three occasions before. In 1993 it was held in Washington, in 2002 in Tripoli, Libya, and New York in 2003.

This season's contest between the country's league champions and the Italian Cup holders saw Inter beat Roma on penalties at the San Siro.

Viduka heading for Newcastle exit

Mark Viduka told reporters his days at Newcastle are numbered as he reaches the end of his contract after a frustrating season that has seen him make just one Premier League start for the Magpies.

Achilles and groin injuries have prohibited his involvement and it seems increasingly likely that this term will be his last in the North East.

Vikuda said he may not receive offers for a new deal from Newcastle and a return to Australia with Melbourne Victory is likely to be in the offing.

"Ideally I'd love to play another year for Newcastle but if it's not to be then it's not to be," he said.
