Czech left-back Milan Misun is on his way to signing for Scottish Premier League champions Celtic, his agent, Ondrej Chovanec, revealed.

The FK Pribram player spent a whole week training with Celtic earlier this month and impressed manager Gordon Strachan.

Milan are one of several other clubs reported to be interested in Misun, 18, but it looks like the highly-rated youngster is bound for Celtic.

Chovanec said: "A group led by Strachan and football development manager John Park told us of their intention to sign Misun immediately."

Ancelotti expects reaction

Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti refused to rule his side out of the Serie A title race after a 4-2 defeat at Juventus on Sunday.

Milan, who were without the injured Kaka, Mathieu Flamini and Gennaro Gattuso, are now nine points adrift of leaders Inter and three behind second-placed Juve after 16 games.

"I think there will definitely be a reaction to this defeat. The winter break will be useful as we will get some players back," former Juve boss Ancelotti said.

"From a defensive point of view, we gave them too much. We've had a lot of injuries and been without some important players."

Larsson not returning to UK

Henrik Larsson will not be making a return to British football in the New Year.

Everton and Aston Villa were strongly linked with a move for the Sweden striker but the 37-year-old, who played for Celtic and Manchester United, said he wasn't really on the verge of a move to England.

"It's amazing. I've read so many stories linking me with a move to Everton and a move to Aston Villa when I haven't spoken to either club or any other club in England," Larsson said.

"There is absolutely no truth in any of the stories linking me with a transfer to the Premiership. At the moment I simply don't know what my plans are, or whether I'll continue playing football or not."

Newcastle keen to keep Owen

Newcastle United manager Joe Kinnear will do all he can to keep England striker Michael Owen at the club for the rest of the season at least, British newspapers said yesterday.

With the January transfer window looming, Kinnear will hold pay talks this week with Owen, who marked his 29th birthday on Sunday with Newcastle's opener in a 3-0 win at Portsmouth, his seventh Premier League goal of the season.

"I've had a good relationship with Michael from day one," Kinnear said.

"He's in control of his future. On Tuesday (today) we will sit down to talk things through and his agent will be there."

'I deserved to be booed' - Vucinic

Mirko Vucinic told reporters his stripping celebration after netting Roma's winner against Cagliari on Sunday was an instant reaction as he was playing poorly.

The Montenegro international was way off form at the Olympic Stadium but went on to score a crucial goal and celebrated by removing his shirt and shorts.

"I felt almost sick with joy when I scored and I will remember it forever," Vucinic said.

"It wasn't easy and I spurned four or five decent chances. I deserved to be booed and even my brother was probably heckling me."

Vucinic received a booking for his celebration.

"I told the ref that I had another shirt on so he shouldn't book me but he told me that the yellow card was for taking my shorts off," he said.

Schweinsteiger lets Juve down

Bastian Schweinsteiger, the Germany international, has decided to renew his contract with Bayern Munich, quashing speculation about his future and a move to Juventus in Italy.

Juventus were eager to lure Schweinsteiger to their fold as he was initially reluctant to commit to a new deal with the Bundesliga giants. With the 24-year-old set to become a free agent next summer, a free transfer was a possibility, but Bayern have convinced him to stay.

Reports in Germany said Schweinsteiger has extended his contract at the club until 2012.

Juve will now have to channel their efforts elsewhere as they look to solve their midfield riddle.

Werder Bremen's Diego is believed to be a target.

Redknapp says Gunners out of race

Harry Redknapp thinks Arsenal's chances of winning the Premier League this season are as good as over after the Gunners dropped points following a one-all draw away at Middlesbrough last weekend.

The Gunners now lie fifth in the table, eight points behind leaders Liverpool. Redknapp feels the battle for the title will come down to Chelsea and Manchester United.

"One of those two will win," Redknapp said.

"Arsenal are not going to win it this year. I can't see them coming back into it and winning the championship. And I think Liverpool rely so heavily on Gerrard and Torres.

"If something happened to Gerrard, I don't know what they'd do."
