Fernando Torres is looking forward to play again at the Vicente Calderon stadium against his former club Atletico Madrid following the midweek Champions League group stage draw.

Torres, 24, spent 12 years and was the captain at Atletico before moving to Liverpool for £20 million in 2007. The first meeting between the two will take place in Spain on October 22.

"It will be very special for me and I'm sure that I'm going to enjoy the experience," Torres told reporters.

"I hope to get a good reception from the fans because Atletico gave me a lot, although I also gave a lot to Atletico. I understand that when the game starts they will see me as a rival, but I'll never forget the years I spent there."

Etuhu joins Fulham

Fulham have signed Nigeria midfielder Dickson Etuhu from English Premier League rivals Sunderland for an undisclosed fee.

"It feels great to have signed," the 26-year-old told the London team's website.

"These are exciting times at the club and I've joined to become an integral part of Fulham's future success.

"The win over Arsenal shows just how competitive Fulham are in the league," said Etuhu after signing a three-year contract.

Hull to bid £7m for United striker

Hull have tabled a bid of £7m for Manchester United striker Frazier Campbell. The 20-year-old was on loan at Hull last season and helped the side to promotion to the Premier League by scoring 15 league goals.

Phil Brown, the Hull manager, was quoted as saying this summer that he wanted to bring Campbell back to Hull permanently. Campbell was included in Manchester United's squad to play Zenit St Petersburg in the Super Cup final on Friday.

United parted with Louis Saha last week but they are expected to add a new striker to their ranks.

While Saha's exit may open an opportunity for Campbell at United, the potential arrival of Dimitar Berbatov could further hinder Campbell's chances of becoming a first-team regular.

Real chief says Robinho staying

Ramon Calderon, the Real Madrid supremo, believes unsettled Robinho will not change club this summer. With transfer deadline day edging ever closer, the Brazil international is seeing his wanted move to Chelsea fade away.

Talks over the transfer with the English club are believed to be ongoing. However, Calderon is reluctant to part with the 24-year-old.

"He's going to stay here, I'm saying that," Calderon said, adding that Robinho was "badly advised."

Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari has made Robinho his top target this summer, but the Blues have already had one bid knocked back by their Spanish counterparts.

Cannavaro fears fans' wrath

Fabio Cannavaro is fearing the worst when Real Madrid play Juventus in the Champions League in Turin after leaving the club in the midst of the 2006 soccer scandal.

"I joined Real Madrid two years ago, but I really did feel terrible at leaving Turin in that way," Cannavaro said.

"I told the club that I would remain in Serie A even if we started from a -50 points penalty, but if we were relegated, I'd prefer to go. And that's what happened.

"If the fans jeer me when I play there in the Champions League, then it is their right, but they should know it was a decision taken with a heavy heart."

Juventus have been drawn with Real Madrid, Zenit and newcomers Bate Borisov. Juve host Real in Turin on October 21.

Bolton get Smolarek

Racing Santander have agreed to loan Poland striker Ebi Smolarek, 27, to Bolton Wanderers for the 2008-09 season. Bolton also have an option to buy the 27-year-old former Borussia Dortmund and Feyenoord player.

Smolarek grew up in Holland where his father Wlodzimierz, star of Poland's 1982 World Cup campaign, was coaching. He is the only player to win the Polish player of the year award three times in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

Smolarek failed to leave his mark during Euro 2008 and was dropped for the final group game against Croatia as Poland failed to progress.

Despite this he has already equalled his father's record of 13 goals for his country in his 34 appearances. Smolarek Sn played 60 times for Poland.

Ferguson not keen on 2012 job

Man. United manager Alex Ferguson said it is not true that he is ready to take charge of a British football team at the 2012 Olympics, adding he would merely be happy to be alive by the time of the London Games.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown and London Organising Committee chairman Lord Sebastian Coe have publicly courted Ferguson for the role as the football associations involved are reluctant to field a united team for fear of losing their independent status within FIFA.

Ferguson, 66, said: "I won't involve myself in that, it's four years away and I may not be alive then... that's why I say my prayers."
